and more...
We are still in the middle of state testing - your schedule may change so be flexible...

This Week:
FLEDGLING! - Westward Movement [1820-1861]

"If a young man is about to commence in the world ... we say to him publicly and privately, go to the West. There, your capacities are sure to be appreciated and your industry and energy rewarded."
Horace Greeley
A Storm is coming...

...but before it hits, we need to discuss America's expansion to the only region available to her - WEST! Leading up to the Civil War was a swift and determined migration to the Western frontier. From the Santa Fe Trail to the Mexican Cession (the land we obtain following the Mexican War), America is GROWING...WEST!

Pathetic Polluted Presidential Platters  - be prepared to play the game each day - know ALL 44 Presidents...it's not just a game, but a daily quiz!

Here's the list of Presidents Handout, if you need another.

And remember - your CONSTITUTION must be in class every day!!!

This week we will be having school-wide SBAC testing. So...the daily schedule will change a bit. Check with Mr. Moon on where you go each day...and KEEP SMILING!!!

This Week:
FLEDGLING! - North and South - continued [1800-1845]

"I wish to speak today, not as a Massachusetts man, or as a Northern man, but as an American."
Henry Clay

We are not finished with the two major divisions of our nation, NORTH and SOUTH. And, sadly, we won't be until the two go to war...

But I'm getting ahead of myself - we are finishing our observation of the Industrial Revolution and also the Era of Reform - a period in our history where we were focused on changing our culture for it's better (or so that was the goal). From religion and temperance to education, there was a movement in our nation to REFORM (change) our society in many, many ways...

TUESDAY...

This Week:
FLEDGLING! - North and South - continued [1800-1845]

"...we ask nothing of our northern brethren but to "let us alone." Leave us to the undisturbed management of our domestic concerns, and the direction of our own industry, and we will ask no more."
Robert Hayne

We will continue analyzing the two major divisions of our nation, NORTH and SOUTH, cultures so different, and developing quickly into such radically opposites on so much, a separation was going to happen...

But first, we will also continue looking at the INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION that changed our nation drastically...and helped our new nation become stronger than ever!
