This Week:
EMBATTLED! - The Divided Nation [1830-1865] - continued

"The time for compromise has now passed, and the South is determined to maintain her position, and make all who oppose her smell Southern powder and feel Southern steel."
Jefferson Davis
A Storm is coming...

Henry Clay's Compromise of 1850 continued an uneasy peace that had plagued our nation since its conception - the continual problem never seemed to go away - SLAVERY.

The Supreme Court decision of Dred Scott, the abolitionist movement, including the violence of John Brown, Bleeding Kansas...all these events continued to move us more and more toward the edge of the abyss of war...

...the storm is almost here...
